The goal of Denver Lightning is to expose athletes to the various possibilities in track and field while creating an environment establishing discipline, team cohesion, respect, safety and opportunity. Our coaches' desire is to teach athletes an appreciation for track and field, while enhancing their self-confidence through consistent practice, guidance, and opportunity for competition. We want to develop social skills in an attempt to cooperate in a group setting and to grow in self-expression. Through these fundamentals, athletes will learn to set and obtain goals to reach their highest level of achievements.
About The Club...
We are a competitive youth track club and we train, condition, and compete year round in USATF, AAU, and other sanctioned track meets. We compete locally in the Denver metro area, regionally, and nationally. Our club consists of sprinters and distance runners. Our athletes range in age from 8 to 18 and compete in the 100m dash, 200m dash, 400m dash, 800m run, 1500m run, 3200m run, hurdles, long jump, and high jump.
There is a recreational level Denver Lightning team, which is run by Denver Parks and Recreation, that is NOT related to this Competitive team. While the Recreation and Competitive teams share part of their name, they are completely different teams.
If you are interested in the Recreation team, you need to register for the CARA Recreation Track Program. Please contact Denver Parks & Recreation's Christy Kramer at 720-865-0846.
